The only time my truck went in the stealer for warranty work I taped up the ALDL plug with about 1/2 roll of duct tape and then wrote a note and taped it to the plug saying "DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!"

I told them to drive it hard if they wanted and they did. I think even the salesmen took turns driving it while it was there (was there for almost a week) The way I see it, if it holds up to me then I am not worried about what someone else can do to it.

It does suck that they damaged your motor and I sure hope they continue to admit it and fix it for you.

That sucks. I would try to get some documentation right now that says what happen. Write something up similar to your initial post and have them sign it. Then later on if they try to deny your claim you will have the letter. I would also ask to speak the the GM of the dealership. He needs to know what is going on. Besides fixing your engine you should get some other form of compensation (free oil changes, etc). My truck is in the body shop right now. If they go joyriding someone is paying my deductible. And if they give me crap I will go straight to the local news and ask how they would like to do a story on local dealerships taking peoples car for joy rides.

i know your playing cool with this and keeping a level head, but you cant do it with dealerships. i know half of the service managers at the place i work and they will blow you off every time if you let them. after you get in their face a little they will do whatever you want just to make you shut up. if they tell you they wont fix it just tell them that your lawier will be handling things from then on and that their boss should be expecting a call from him.

its cheaper for them to fix it than to go to court and fight it

Better have your facts straight about you modifications when you go back because you can count on them putting the blame 100% on you saying that it had to do with the changes to the puter or the meth or or or or .

IMO we should NEVER take a modified truck to the dealer for ANYTHING. NEVER. They will likely treat it badly. They don't like modifications. I had a small electrical problem and took it to the dealer and although the problem had nothing to do with the modifications I'd done I heard the service manager tell the tech that "he's got the truck all fucked up". They like stock. Do not trust them !!!! BE very careful because the chances that they will treat you right are very small.

Stay very calm. Act very mature and professional. Don't back off an inch from your stance that they are TOTALLY responsible.

And if none of those options work....follow the guy home one day and make sure he see's you ride by his house. Treating my truck badly is a very short second only to treating my family badly.

I would ask for the cost of the new motor and installation in cash, then take the money and get a built 408.

To me it sounds like the f***ing tech reflashed your pcm, they will blame you for not modifying your pcm when you added your FI setup. One thing that got me a little confused why they turn off your meth, unless they knew what would happened.

Something like this happened to my dad back in 2000. At the time he had a 96 C3500 dually, 454 with whipple supercharger. In 2000 my dad total the truck when a car came across the median and slamed into the side. This truck sat the body shop for a 1/2 year, we wanted the truck and the insurance did not want to give it to us. I wanted the engine (who would not), nothing happened to the engine. When we got the truck back this is what we found:
--454 w/ supercharger - gone - 350 carburated motor instead
--4 leather captain chairs - gone - 2 vinyl bench seats instead
--Optima Red Top - gone - some el cheapo battery (I think it was an Autozone) instead
--alternator - gone
--A/C compressor - gone
--Ranch Hand Rear Bumper - gone - instead factory chrome bumper
--Ranch Hand Front Bumper - gone - instead factory chrome bumper
--gooseneck hitch (but the bed still had the hole in it) - gone
--trailer brake switch - gone
--6 aluminum wheels - gone - 6 factory steel wheels instead

The body shop manager told us "this how the truck came to us, I assure you nobody has touched this truck." The body shop yard has 10 foot fence with razor wire at the top. After 2 long years and several thousands of dollars in lawyer fees, the body shop finially admit they had a couple of guys to take stuff off our truck because we were not supposed to get it back.

It does suck and it makes you what to go rip that f***ing bas***ds gonads off. Keep in there, don't budge, at the first sign of problems go get a dirty lawyer.

If they do cover it, do you think I could say I don't trust them and to cut me check for the value of the parts and labor?

If you got a custom tune, the person you got your tune from will tell you really quick, or if it runs like .

As for cutting you a check it needs to be for at least $7,900
--LQ9 is $4000 http://www.paceparts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=104356]Pace Performance Parts or Pace Pontiac
--replacement 5.3L is between $3,100 - $3,800 http://www.paceparts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=147]Pace Performance Parts
--I think it's around 12-19 hrs for R&R engine @ $100/hr <- this is what the dealer I got to charges.

I would see what they have to say, and start looking for a lawyer cause you might need one.
