A Couple DSLR Questions...
#1
So, I'm looking to finally step up and grab a DSLR. I've been wanting to get one for a long time now, and it's been a little while since I've read a whole lot into what exactly is the **** these days as far as cameras go.
Say you wanted to spend about a grand or so... Ok, your limit AFTER tax is a grand for the initial investment. I know lenses are the huge part of the money your gonna spend, but that's not now, that's a little later on... What would you get these days for a good DSLR and a some accessories to get you off the ground for around $1000 check-out price? Keep in mind, the $1000 is the initial investment... I know how hobbies and modding **** works money-wise lol...

It's a Digital Single Lens Reflex camera. (the bigass ones with interchangeable lenses, like an old 35mm).
As for the OP, either the Nikon D90 or Canon Rebel T1i or T2i would be good places to start. To decide between the brands, go to Best Buy or the like, hold both brands, and then make your decision.
I was dead set on a Nikon, until I held it and hated it. Ended up with a Canon, and my buddy was the exact opposite. My laptop's about to die, but I'll answer any more questions you might have later if I can.

Like mentioned above. Hard to go wrong with Canon or Nikon. I have a Canon 40D that I've had for a few years and love it. They have newer models now. Check criagslist. I've seen some pretty good deals on there. Like anything else, people loose interest and sell them after realizing they are not point and shoot cameras. For $1000 you should end up with a very good starter package. For Lenses you need to find out what you will be shooting most. Indoor sports, outdoor sports. Hard to have 1 lens do it all.

^I agree completely.
Also, don't go blowing your whole budget on a body, the lens is far more important as far as image quality goes, as long as you start off with a good body.
Are you looking for something that has video capabilities as well? If not, that opens up a WHOLE new world of the "prosumer" bodies (like the Canon 40D and 50D, Nikon D300, etc.).
