From what I've seen most depts work 5 on 5 off or mon-fri if I could get on with a 5 on 5 off department I could continue to work for my current company. If I got on with a mon-fri department I would be home with my family on the weeknds and every other home with them at night so that would be good too. Plus the GF is going to be my sugar momma she will bestarting off at 80K a year when she graduates in 2 years

Yeah I suppose a pension of 80% after 20 years aint bad either. Id do something on the side depending on the work schedule.

haha, i made a post on another forum just like this except im looking around the dallas area. i believe i can have my Navy qualifications transferred into Texas firefighting qualifications from what i read. good luck

It is def a good career to get into, I have a few buddys that are FF's and love it. From everything I have been told, it is best to go join up to a vol dep first, that way when you are ready to move to that as a full time career you have exp doing it, it will be a bit easier to obtain a position... I have often thought about trying it. Good luck man
