Default considering 2012 Jetta TDI

i want to buy a new car, something that gets better gas mileage than my truck but dont want to spend more than $25k. i was thinking about an 08-09 Lexus IS250 but id be looking at 50-60k miles, 29mpg, no warranty and wouldnt know the history of the car. saw a commercial for the new Jettas the other night and they look pretty nice now so i went and test drove one last night, i liked everything about the car except the 3 year/36k warranty...it kind of worries me. do things start breaking at like 50k miles? it would be brand new, i would get a manual transmission, 42mpg (likely more with the manual trans), fully loaded with leather and nav for $24,970....right at my price limit.

all of that being said, does anyone have any personal experience with Jettas? is it a good choice or should i consider something else? convince me to buy something.

Get a Smart Car, with a Hayabusa engine. Should be economical, and you can do stoppies, burnouts, etc.

Haven't drove the new Jetta but I know a few people with a couple year old model and they really like them.

In 2011 the Jetta went to ****. Still a great car, but they really cheapened them up for the masses, and they lost their compact luxury car niche. My brothers 05 TDI gets about 61-62 if you drive it like a penny pincher

Just remember with anything VW, you're going to get RAPED when something breaks or when you need to do maintenance on it. If you want to test drive my new Civic you're welcome to do so = P. I love it.

We had an IS250, and that was the worst riding, loudest interior noise, feel every bump in the road, car that I've ever driven/ridden in. The leather also felt cheap as hell. Over a 100K on it with no real problems, but the car is not worth half of what Lexus asks for it, IMO.
