Concealed Weapons Permit

california, southern to be exact, is the second hardest to get next to NYC. My family is close friends with the chief of police and the county sheriff and it still took me 1 1/2 years, plus a hour long interview in front of 3 interviewers...

I have heard that to get one in CA you have to know someone basically...especially southern CA

Wow, lol, in Ct you just take the 8 hour course and do some paperwork and that's about it.
You turn the paperwork in to your local P.D., and they schedule you for an interview. Sometimes that's the longest part. Mine took 6 weeks 'till I got my interview. Basically it's an in person background check and they ask why you want a carry permit. I just told them so I can transport back and forth to the range. After the interview and the issued temporary paper permit I drove up to the Dept. of Public Safety and got my permanent permit that day. They took the picture for me up there and everything, no different than the DMV and getting a drivers license, except the people at the DPS are a lot nicer and faster than the people at the DMV lol. Also, there's no restrictions on any type of pistol you can conceal. As long as it's a pistol your good. If it's a rifle you can open carry it... but that's kinda one of those old school "blue laws". I'd never sling my AR to go to walmart, although technically it'd be legal haha.

In Oklahoma you don't need a permit to transport back and forth to the range. I don't think you do anywhere else either since the gun has to get there some how. You just have to leave it unloaded and in seperate containers. If stopped it needs to be in plain view and just let the cop know why it's there. To/From the store or range is 100% legal.
What other choice do you have? Mail it to the range the day before?

In Ct you can bring it straight home at long as it's in it's factory container. If your going to the range and you don't have your permit, you have to have someone in the vehicle with a permit. The only leeway given is from when you buy it to when you get home.

Nah, I don't bother... I got my permit lol. It's really not a big deal in Ct, we're a shall issue state. As long as you don't have anything on your record and aren't insane as decided by a court, you can get your permit.
In all reality though, if you don't have a permit here, your not supposed to transport at all, even broke down to parts, in separate boxes, in a lockbox locked in your trunk. Long guns are a completely different animal though.

is there anybody in here from WA? i worked with a guy that grew up in washington and he told me you didnt even have to take a course, all you had to do was fill out some paperwork and they done a background check and he had his permit in a few weeks.
