Angry Computer Monitor

I have a dell 17" flat screen. I got on my computer today and it has went to sh*t. Screen got all dark and changed all the colors to a redish tint. I tryed to restore the factory default settings but that didn't fix it. I finally adjusted the colors to where it is useable (sp) but it still isn't right. Any ideas of what it is? If i need to get a new one does anybody have any suggestions?

Do you have a second computer you can try it on? Its possible that its not the monitor and it is actually a bad video card. More likely its the monitor though but this would be a good test to make sure.
Also check the cable to make sure they are tight, even wiggle them around and watch the monitor. I've seen that happen with a bad cable before.

Uninstall the video car and reinstall it... see if that does the trick.

Also, go into your monitor settings and see if all the drivers appear to be functioning normally. And lastly... do what Zick said.. do a test on another computer and test the wires. good luck.

also just for future reference, check the pins in back of the connector and make sure they are not bent. this happened on my parents computer and the screen was a blue-ish tint.
