i took my truck to Firestone this afternoon for an alignment since i have a "lifetime alignment" with them. the tech jumped in my truck and raced around the parking lot which i didnt like but blew it off. then called me out in the shop to say my truck needed a rack and pinion because it was leaking, funny because it wasnt leaking 20 minutes earlier when i was changing my oil and adjusting my camber. sure enough, it was leaking and there was a screwdriver sitting on the rack next to my front tire. as if that didnt **** me off enough, the tech went to eat lunch with my truck on the lift and told his manager he couldnt align it because it needed both hub assemblies, rack and pinion and inner and outer tie rods for a total of $1037.84 WITHOUT the rack and pinion and labor. all of the mentioned parts have been replaced within the last 18 months and there is no way any of it was bad before i went up there, because i checked everything out right before i left. needless to say some words were exchanged and i lit the tires up leaving the parking lot. the manager called me about 2 minutes later and asked what my problem was, i told him i would bring the rack and pinion with the hole in the boot, their estimate and a lawyer up there and talk about it to which he replied that if i step foot back on their property i would go to jail for trespassing. i replaced the rack and pinion a little over a year ago for the same problem and when i did i got the lifetime warranty so i will just be out the time and inconvenience but its still not right. i have filed several bad reviews for them already and a complaint with the BBB, i dont expect anything to come out of it but i want everyone to know that the techs at that store are crooks and should not be trusted with anybodys vehicle.
i will never go back to that Firestone again, there is another one about 2 miles away that i will go to from now on but i will let them know about my experience with the Firestone at 1330 W. Mcdermott Drive in Allen, TX and make sure they know none of their employees will drive my truck and i will be with my truck, observing the tech at all times. if they dont like it ill take my business elsewhere.
be careful where you take your truck to be worked on and if you must, watch the tech at all times.

that sucks, a while back I brought my truck to firestone across from the home depot in kenner, I had just put new 275/45/20s on my truck, because i was lowered 2/5 and never had it aligned, thus causing tire wear. so they dude pulls my truck on the rack, and tells me he cant align it. my front tires have to much play, the tie rods are bad, my rear end was leaking, my shocks were blown, my front had never been aligned he said. And he told me i would need a new driveshaft, and that the transmission had a leak. Total cost-$1600 to fix it, without labor. now he prints it up, tells me he cant align it unless i fix all of that which was necessary. I told him thats ood, considering i changed my tie rods 2 weeks before i went there, and nothing was leaking. brought it to my friend who worked at chevy dealer, told him to look at this paperwork. nothing was wrong with my truck, ****** just wanted my money. had truck aligned at a reputiable shop over, and the firestone guy told me i never had it aligned. what an ***

that's when you take the invoice and call the local news station and have them with you at the dealership when they check your truck out.
Nothing worse than the shop getting called out on the local news. That's definitely not good for business.

this is the same place, where i had a friend of mine, who is a girl call and ask for a set of 275/55/20s, they told her 220 a piece, i called 10 minutes after her, asking about the same 275/55/20s, and was quoted 135 a piece. whats wrong with that picture?

I'm a tech, and that **** just makes me shake my head. Working at a dealership we normally restore everything back to OEM. If it has slack, even a little, it gets replaced or suggested for replacement, if the customer declines the repair, we go about our business. No need to poke holes in **** and cut wires to make a buck... That's crooked ****...
I know it's often referred to the "stealership" and often that's the case but around here it's the best place to take your vehicle. That's why people pay the extra bucks to have factory trained technicians service their vehicle.
All that being said, I do all my own work
Sorry about how it went down Carey, but there's ways to make them look like the idiots they are

From what I know workin in the used parts business, MOST of those chain repair places are crooks. Find a local old school mechanic, do it yourself or go to the dealership. dealerships won't scam you on avg as bad as those chain places will.

yeah its a shitty deal, i wrote about 6 bad reviews on them on different sites and filed a report to the Better Business Bureau, texted everyone in the area that might even consider taking their car there and posted here to rant.
and Ben, i do all of my own work too...except transmissions and alignments....and those are the things i have the most problems with
