It's funny how things have progressed over the past year or more. 3 years ago people would have said not to go bigger than a 224/224 on a 5.3L. Now people run the Patriot 228/228 without thinking twice. As time progresses people take more and more chances with their motors, with proper tuning and the right setup you can run a big duration cam and still have it maintain normal street manners. Also the cam grinder seem to be coming out with better lobes that have a greater intake/exhaust duration without sacrificing quite as much as a cam with similar specs, but with different lobes.

I was curious when I read what he posted because I have seen several 230 plus cams that he speced!

Absolutely true... It seems like new lobes come out yearly, at least out of Comp... I have read good and bad things about each lobe... Seems like the XER and LSL/LSR lobes are very promising...

If i were TXSilverado, i would be kinda pissed... Pat G. recommended that cam for him then he calls him a moron... Awesome customer service...

There is more than TXSilverado that has one speced from him. Either way txsilverado has that thing running badass. All the big cams I have seen that he speced performed very well and made good power.

That post was from July 10th, 2008 although that still isn't much time for things to change that drastically.
