Lately Ive been worried about the whole GM needing bailout money situation, a few friends that are jeep/ford/dodge/rice burner guys have been lightly teasing me about it lately saying there might not be any gm soon, whats your guys take on the GM situation? Even on of my friends said he heard the Gm performance division is getting axed?

they won't go under. If they were smart they would just file for bankruptcy under chapter 11 and get a clean slate and wipe off some debt and downsize alittle, reorganize and tell the union to kiss their *** and then they would come back alot stronger, as the uaw is hurtin them bad.

i say they cant and wont close down gm...its a big "huge part" part of the economy...imagine if they close then the out sources are going to close down and that would create a big mess....i mean the goverment wouldnt care as much if its a corner store they loose 20+ employees..imagine loosing 1000+ employees...thats what i think bta how things are going its looking bad for everyone

I don't think GM will close, but I do think they're way of operating will change.
They have got to get rid of the union and somehow, restore confidence in their product (reliability perception and company status) with consumers here in this country.
Continue to be inovative in their approach to auto making and design; alternative fuel vehicles and performance vehicles (Bring back the Chevelle dammitt!!!)

A lil concerned at most, but not worried they will shut down. Like said it is a huge part of the economy.. They def need to drop the union, start a fresh spot.. Unions are good, but unions are also BAD. Also if for some reason they would(doubtful) aftermarket gm things would stay in productions. It is just that huge..

I don't think they will close, but like everyone else said the Union has got to go... The company i work for has a Union for its hourly labor force and all it is good for is protecting the LAZY!!!! Unions had thier place along time ago, but IMO they have out lived thier usefullness.... IMO GMC shoud fire everyone and fire an entire new work force that is non-union... I don't know it that is legal but that is what I would do...
