well first off.. gotta ask you some questions..... do you want an automatic or manual ? that will usually make a difference.
IMO it would be between yamaha and honda. if you want a big manual 4x4 . honda got that one. biggest one yami makes is the big bear ( which isnt to bad of a bike either!!).... if you want a big auto.. get the grizzly 700 ...

my family owns a small dealership over here in gonzales, so ive ben around it since i was 2 years old..... i can tell ya everything you want to know about a yamaha. and 68% everything about a honda

 

i used to have big bears and kodiaks. i love shifting myself and was kind of annoyed with the grizzly at first with the auto transmission. i like being able to down shift and rip into it when i want. but after a while you get used to the automatic. and its nice to be able to let the wife ride and not hear the rpm at redline all the time lol. at this point im leaning to a grizzly 700 camo with 29.5 tires and 2" lift.

im guna look into honda some more though.

whats up with the belt slip i'm hearing about? is there a fix to it?

 

getting water in your cvt case somehow, or having alot of hours on it and im talking about alot of hard hours

there are 3 ways water can get in there, through the drain plug, the vent intake, and vent exhuast.


you can take the cvt cover off and rub a line of silicon around the rubber gasket, around the drain plug, and the intake/exhaust vents where it slips on the cover, if you plan on goin deep

 

how hard/expensive is it to replace the belts?

 

Don't listen to Nonnie....he's the most biased atv rider ever, and he'll always tell tales of his little honda pulling *insert every other brand* atv home.

Go with the Honda as long as you never get in a hurry to go anywhere or don't ride with guys that own other brand atvs. They'll get sick of waiting on you.

 

the belt takes about 10 minutes to replace... i think high lifter makes an upgraded belt thats supposed to have ribs or something in it

 

the expensive part is when the slipping belt burns grooves in the drive/driven clutch faces.... those are a few hundred bucks a peice..... on the honda rincons, you can select between fully automatic and manual with the push of a button, not to mention no belt!
