i dont want to tack the cam, i stil want it to be fully functional. any ideas on what i could use as a stud?

Go to the hardware store and find a few dowel pins that are close to the size. You could slip it in and try tacking the back side then grinding it back down flush so it clears when the A arm moves. That's about all I got.

i am going to thread the hole and put a bolt in it then weld it on the inside, grind the weld smooth and cut the head off

I'm sure that the factory pin is hardened, and probably only a couple of bucks if available...go to the dealership and order the right part so you don't end up repeatedly snapping aftermarket bolts and whatnot...
