A similar set up setup 2wd truck will allways be quicker on a good track with, the right suspention, and tire. As far as on the street it's a different story. If I was building a max effort truck for the strip it would be 2wd, but since my truck sees the street 95% of the time I chose to go 4wd. The 4wd also makes for a more versatile daily driver in the high elevations of Co.

Me too, Im too big of an outdoorsman to have a 2wd I think. I was considering getting a 2wd very seriously but then I got to thinking about all the times Ive used 4wd in situations I wasnt planning on needing it. I think Ill wait a few years and just build my speed vehicle, Im trying to do too much with one truck I do believe

It's call driving your truck.

Putting it in Drive and mashing the 4wd button is call RIDING in your truck.

anything under about 70 with the turbo setup resulted in tire smoke and two looooooong black marks down the highway. I just learned to just drive it on the street and save the max hp pulls for a prepped surface with tires meant for it. My 275 Falkens hated me

The reg cab will have either Nitto's or M/T street radials since my drive to work is short and I still have the ECSB to take if I need to make miles. plus, with it lifted back up on 33 " a/t's is a really comfortable ride with the shocks I've got on it.

Ive been looking through the classifieds everywhere for a crew cab NBS with high miles and found a LOT of 2wds but I plan on running a cammed LQ4 with a radix or TVS on top and dont really care to not be able to use my power until 60+mph. Id consider running drag radials since my truck may get 4000 miles put on it a year at most but I wouldnt want to back half it or go four link just to get it to hook so I figured id ask this quesiton.

I do lay into truck on street often, but don't do top speed runs or anything. I too like getting up to speed limit or close to it quickly, or maybe 5 MPH over it.

thunder550, while u don't think u could ever make yourself buy a 2wd truck, for whatever reasons, if u fell like it's forced, then you'll not be happy after the fact.

Atomic says throttle control. His sig tells otherwise.

Light makes might. I can practice a lil self-restraint...sometimes.
But that may change as mods are added.

My ex bought a 2wd Tundra. She never thought she had any reason (offroad, etc) to need 4wd. In the 2 years she had it that we were together she almost got stuck 3 or 4 times on dirt roads after a little bit of rain. I'm talking graded dirt roads, not offroad trails. Also had issues in the snow. Used her truck to tow our boat a few times and couldn't make it up the boat ramp without assistance, and almost got stuck trying to back up a dirt road on a hill with the trailer attached. It's just a personal preference. I use trucks for truck-type activities and I will never have one by choice without 4wd.

Bottom line is that my constantly broken blue truck, lowered and temperamental, overheating all the time, etc etc was much more useful that her stock 2wd Tundra was. She even admitted later that she wished she had gotten 4wd, which was HUGE...she never admitted she was wrong

Zing!

Chris, since you use trucks for truck-type activities, 4wd is the better choice by far. I wonder if I ever use my lowered 2wd to drop a small rowboat in or a jetski, if I'll have issues. Plus towing as light as those items are w/. my 258mm 2600 stall? Only goin to lake 25 miles 1 way. I shouldn't when time comes.

Just a thought, but it'll be a while til I get a lil trailer for the boat.
