Default viper 5901

I'm looking into getting the viper 5901 alarm and remote start for the 07 tbss. I'm not a real electrical type of guy becides the basics. But i wanted to see if anyone of you tbss fellers have actually done the install and can let me know what im getting myself into. Also how do you like the setup and has anyone actually tested the remote start from a mile or so away like the description says its good for.

Thanks in advanced and if theres any threads or places to point me in the right direction please feel free to help me out.

i have one i love it the page works for about a mile but the remote start is more like a 1/4 mile . but thats still very far . the bad thing abut that is you cant lock the key pad on the one way remote . so i was at work and looked out the window and my lights were on and my truck was running i must have started it from my pocket . but the 2 way you can key lock .

ive got the 5901 on my SSS and love it...the range is pretty damn good, not nearly a mile for the remote start but i dont ever need to start my truck from that far away anyway. As far as self installation...id get it done professionally. I was going to attempt it myself but after watching my friend install it that is an installer at Best Buy im glad I didnt decide to do it myself. I think youll like the 5901

+1 on the professional install. If you think the wiring in your house is confusing, then the stuff you tap into by installing an alarm will make your head spin. I've got the 5701 and am thinking about upping to the 5901 just so I can get the locking keypad.

Thanks everyone i found it on amazon for like $220 but when i was talking to a few shops they said i would need another $100-145 in extra parts. So ya anyone know what they are referring to or if its just a way for them to make a few extra $$$ off me.

6789olds who did your install??? Because thats a hell of a deal $300 installed

That is correct you need an immobilizer bypass module so that the truck doesn't think it's being stolen. They run about 80 bucks or so. you might also need some misc. wires and connectors, but not 50 bucks worth...
