I pulled the trans bc I'm tossing in the 65 out of the denali. Lower mileage and a stronger unit than the 60 it will replace.

Great advice mark. Before the 65 goes in it got a sonnax boost valve and vette servo's. It's also getting an FTI 3000 street brawler converter.

The engine is ready to pull and should be out Tuesday night. It was a huge pain in the ***** getting the trans off the back of the engine. Not much room in these things and it was stuck on there like crazy. Those dowel pins wouldn't budge... Eventually got it though. One thing I will say, the bell housing bolts are more accessible than in a truck!! I didn't even need a knuckle to get at any of them!

I didnt bother with the 4th gear servo's... I kinda assumed they wouldnt really be necessary since Ill never hit 4th gear under heavy load. You're the tranny guy though so who am I to question it. At this point I could order it but it wont get here in time, the trans is sitting under the car ready to be lifted and bolted in place tomorrow night. It is easy enough to do while the trans is in the car too though.

What specifically does the sonnax 4th gear servo do? Does it only increase pressure going into OD where as the vette servo's will help on gears 1-3?

It can not be easily installed in the vehicle, plus you have to adjust the pin length to compensate for the servo installed height. The Corvette servo effects the 1-2 shift and acts as accumulator for the 2-3. I can not explain it but 4th gear sonnax servo seems to improve the 2-3 shift feel as well. I use them in all my performance builds. Its your call if time is a issue just skip it.

Damn it... well now I wish I had done it. Sounds silly but I am really trying to push to get this done asap.

Oh well... It would have been nice. Lets hope this isn't another live and learn situation.

Atupid question here... I have 2 large vent hoses that are run up near the intake manifold. One has a small hose that connects to the tranny vent hose, the other is run back to the transfer case. The problem is that the tranny vent hose is part of a much longer line that could also reach back to the transfer case... what the hell does this go to?? I'm at a loss.

Is there something else that needs a vent hose that I'm not thinking of? Again, its part of the same line the tranny is vented to. Here is a pic of it. In all the times I've dropped the tranny on the truck I don't remember having so much excess vent hose...

There should be 2 lines that pretty much run in parallel. On the lower side one is the t case vent the other goes to a retainer on top of the transfer case and does not connect to anything on that end. You can check any Trailblazer, Envoy, or Bravada for a reference. It does not matter if its a 6 cylinder the set up is the same. I can probably take a pic on Monday and send it o you. I know I have a couple in the lot.

Pretty funny that they would put in a breather hose and not route it to anything... doesnt really make any sense to me.

Anyway... everything is in and running smooth! I am working on the tune now with a lot of help from friends, but its a strong little DD.

It's so if it pushes out the breather it doesn't go all over anything hot or all underneath.
