Default 2WD to AWD Conversion

I have been looking to find an AWD SS for a while now and just recently came across one that a friends friend is selling. Problem is it is RWD but it is in the best condition I have seen one in and he's looking to give me a great deal. My question is how much anyone thinks it would cost to convert it to AWD and if it is even possible and actually be worth paying for. I am new to these cars and honestly don't know much about them so I am looking for some advice from anyone on here on whether or not to try it or just find an AWD one.

Well the best case you could have is finding a awd tbss owner wanting to go 2wd...

The trans would have to come out and be takin apart to swap tail shafts,(2wd is longer than awd)..Paying a shop to just swap the tail shaft and not beef it up would a waste of $$ in itself.
So a built trans is gonna run you atleast $2500-$3000
Then you gotta buy the front diff, axle shafts, both driveshafts so your lookin at another $2500~ or so there..

IMO find an awd instead of doing a swap...I had an awd and will buy a 2wd next time around

BadMonkey on TBSSowners.com has a fairly new built trans for a AWD for cheap. Check out the for sale section. Im sure the swap will be pretty pricey tho. Check out TBSSowners.com and you will find all the info you will need there

Lots of power on the street = nothing in 2wd. Lots of power + awd on the street makes things much more fun. Trust me I know.

yea on a dig run and thats it, do a 30 roll and on up, you loose all your top end. just throw some slicks ir radials on it and call it a day, thats what all the trucks that street race down here do. unless your making a ton more power to compensate for the added weight of awd, your just slowin yourself down. if you were say an evo or 4g gt35r eclipse, then yea awd would definitely be worth it.

Thanks for all the responses it really helps...and yes I do live where it snows and that is pretty much the only reason for me wanting the AWD. This car is going to be my daily driver and I won't be modding it much at all. I have my WS6 to mess around with
