That's very possible. I took my z71 stickers off... so I guess by some peoples mentality my truck isn't really a z71 anymore....

ok so my truck has the z71 rpo code and 3.73 in the rear but no g80... i am pretty sure that until 2003 the g80 was not standard in the z71s. i remember this vaugely from an article a while back..

Check your glove box RPO sticker and see if it says "Z71". My 99 came with the G80, but I don't think it's a standard option. As mentioned above, the Z71 package basically consists of shocks, skid plates, and stickers. The autotrak transfer case (push button 4x4) is available on non-Z71's also.

you will have to look and see if it has skid plates. as some one said before not all z71s had a g80 and not all z71s have push button. alot of the z71s that have bench seats have the floor shifter.

Z-71 is supposed to be Bilstein shocks and all metal skid plates. Mine was actually a z-85 4x4 with z-71 decals no bilstein shocks and plastic skid plates. I honestly dont think the g80 is part of the package, mine however has it. Also once you lift it and remove the skid plates and shocks the only thing that makes it a Z is the rpo!

My 04 Z has skid plates, bottom is metal, front is plastic. I have a bench seat and push button 4wd. Also, have the G80 and 3.73s. I dont think I have the Bilsteins. The body is red. I believe they are just the decarbons.

The NBS Z71s never had Bilsteins, that was the OBS trucks. The NBS Z71s have red Tenneco shocks and the standard 4WDs got blue ons. Also, the all mtal skids were on the OBS, the NBS have the plastic ones in the front.
