Default Tahoe "side steps"

the factory side step bars on my tahoe only actually offer about 2 inches of platform to step on and i was wondering if i could replace them with something that sticks out further and would have a more usable platform to step up in this thing. i found this model on ebay and wondered if its what i need?

Westin makes a 5" wide step, oval tube bars. I just got a pr. for my cc chevy.
