To elaborate for you, the case is made of magnesium whereas the pump is made of aluminum. From the factory, a small clip is installed between the mating of the two and is all that protects the softer magnesium from the harder aluminum pump. Needless to say, the clips are prone to breaking. The case saver essentially is a much beefier version of the oem clip that protects the entire pump pocket of the case itself, otherwise the pump will eventually rub a small hole in the case leading to loss of fluid.
