Max MPH in 4x4
#11
Ive always understood it to be OK to drive in 4hi at any speed, but not to shift into, or out of 4wd at over 55. Ive had mine over 100 in 4hi more than once. And driven for distances at about 80 in 4hi.

yeah you should be fine at any speed. Just dont gun it in a sharp turn or while making a turn. thats when things start to say bye bye. Oh and your tires will wear a little more.

Just a little piece of advice: make sure your front driveshaft u-joints are in good shape and are bolted tight to the yokes. I had a '98 Jeep Wrangler with a chevy 305 and a th350 tranny that tossed the front driveshaft at around 120 mph; it started wobbling and beore I could back off it lifted the passenger side wheel up and almost flipped me. Somehow by the grace of God I managed to get it back on the road on all 4 wheels; it just busted my tranny pan and broke the t-case shifter linkage, not to mention it put skid marks in my undies. Just be careful.
