I have blown G80's everywhere at the shop.Use them for door stoppers. But some are very lucky.

Eaton True-Trac,Yukon Duragrip,Eaton HD posi unit would be the ideal setup. We sell more of the True-trac and the Duragrip though.

Figured I'd post a comparison pic for the sake of the thread in case someone still wonders.

Here's the G80

Here's the Truetrac

Which looks stronger to you?

It says not to use Truetrac with 33" or bigger tires. If that's the case then what would we use I'm looking into a gear change for 35". 4.88 gears is what I'm planning on getting but don't know what to get a locker or a lsd for the front and back diff.

I know most recommend the TruTrac, but most that do are thinking from a street standpoint and it's understandable, but I do not. The TruTrac is a torque biasing differential and as such when one tire leaves the ground, as is quite a possibility when off-roading, you could find your-self not moving. The Detroit Locker would provide the absolute in strength and off-road capability, but just as others have said come with the draw-backs on the street. I believe you will find that a regular Eaton LSD or something of the same variation like the Yukon Dura-Grip to offer the best middle ground solution.

On the other hand, if your off-roading adventures are not likely to have one of your tires hanging off in a rut or between some rocks, then by all means the TruTrac will offer some excellent attributes, especially street manners.

Also being a 1500, you will find that there are not any LSD options for the front differential. From my understanding all of the companies have deemed the 8.25” differential to being too weak to handle the additional load. The only way to get a locking front differential is to (you would have to be a serious off-roader) install a 9.25” front differential from a 25/3500, but it is most definitely not a direct bolt in. It has been done several times, but there is some fabrication involved.

1Bear thanks for clearing somethings up for me. I wasn't sure if the front could hold one or not, all this is new to me I'm just now getting into all the new upgrades, and lifting my truck. I don't do rock climbing or anything just mud and sand, but living in San Antonio there is alot of rocks but I don't think I want to destroy my daily driver as well as my toy.

The G80 is fine, keep it in there if you've got it.
