if the rpo code G80 is in the glove box you have a locker.
Go to a dirt road and punch the gas. If there are 2 tire marks you have a locker, if only one, its an open diff.

You WANT an LSD but you DON"T want a stock G80 unit. As stated, check the glove box for G80 and that tells you if it has a stock LSD or not.
If it doesn't I recommend an Eaton Tru-trac
If it DOES I recommend changing it for an Eaton Tru-Trac

The G80's are prone to breakage and aren't very good LSD's to boot. For clarity a "locker" is good for offroad where one wheel may be in the air. In those cases a LSD is useless but a locker doesn't like to corner well
An LSD will work very well where there is limited traction, like mud, snow.

the stock g80's on a stock truck aren't bad at all they accomplish what they are made to do. BUT once you start adding more power to the truck and/or bigger tires to the truck the stock g80's have been known to explode ruining the diff. a full "LOCKER" aren't really ideal for a DD truck they are better in strictly offroad applications but the eaton tru trac is an awesome LSD that will work wonders on and offroad.
