I'd say absolutely no harm done.

ditto, i did the same thing, not good to do all the time , but once in a while it is ok, also its good for us 4x4s to engage it and let everthing work every so often to keep it it shape, keeps the front axle lubed up and seals and actuaters and so on.

Your vehicle owner manual says it is ok as well. I used to run my old Z71 in 4HI for around 70 or so miles at a time at 75 MPH when it would rain hard commuting to and from Houston. No harm done at all. Remember that GM put the Auto 4x4 in trucks (round button above 4HI). Though I think they only put it in 99-2002 vehicles. I still run my 2004 HD in 4HI when it rains hard.

I run mine in 4hi a lot of times in the rain. Its actually good to run it 100 miles or so a month to heat the fluid up and get the moisture out of it.
