Default Best 4X4 for me? need opinions/facts

Hey guys, I'm just wondering...what v8 4x4 do you think would get the best gas mileage, out of any truck or suv? I know this sounds weird, and many of you will either flame or say that if i want good gas mileage, i should get a 2wd. But, I have a 2wd now, and get stuck in different places every 2-3 months. I'm really starting to get tired of it, so I'm wanting to go to a 4x4. Another thing is you can't include midsize or compact trucks, I'm just plain too tall to fit in them. My dad has a Tacoma, and it's too small for me (and seems kinda cheap). Thanks in advance for some real answers

im not here to bash any other make of truck and yes i do drive a GM. i think that GM has the best power to Gas millage... dodge has 345 hp out of a 5.7l hemi.. gets 14 city and 18 highway.... and at about 4800 lbs that ratio comes out to about .071 hp per pound... silverado i think average truck is about 4500 lbs gets 16/20 milage out of a 310hp 5.3l engine at about .069 hp per pound and the f150 has 300 hp 5.4l engine get 16/20 milage and wieghs in at 5100 lbs with a .056 for power to weight ratio....

all numbers were pulled off of this site http://auto.consumerguide.com and were based on a extended cab short box.... if what i posted was wrong yell at them and not me please thank you,

Les

Best 4wd for real offroad use: Dodge Power Wagon or Ford F-250 Super Duty. They both have solid front axles which are more durable than IFS offroad. They'll both get 10mpg with gas motors though.

GM 1/2ton pickups/SUVs will get the best gas mileage. The new 07+ SUVs get even better mileage, but they're lacking in 4x4 capability due to air dams that hang down WAY too low, providing next to no ground clearance.

I think my truck weighs about 5000. Ford version of my truck weighs 5700! The Fords do feel quite solid as a result (fully boxed frame, lots of extra sheet metal) but you pay for it in weight/mileage/performance.

any of the gm fullsize will be good. I would also look at tundras too. They have more room than a taco.

I had a 2000 ecsb z71 5.3 w/ 3.73 and 285/75 tires and a few small breathing mods and I could get high teens average. You can't beat that IMO. I would drive in traffic and some city, all open HWY it should do even better.

Hey gang....I am new here so I hope you don't mind me chiming in.....

I have a 04 Z71 ECSB it has a 5.3 as well.

I have a Magnaflow catback and an Outlaw Cold Air intake and I average around 17mpg between city/highway....

I have driven a Ford 5.4 F150 4x4 and it feels solid, but it doesn't feel or pull like my 5.3. Nice truck though...
