i would think it would be a lot easier to sell the 2wd and buy a 4x4

That is a terrible idea. I mean it could work with the right tools and shop tools. But man, that is a re-sale killer IMO. I have owned slavaged titled vehicles in the past that were great, but I would be more hesitant about something like that than a slavage title (except fire/water damage of course). Do this, sell it, and get yourself what you want, a 4x4. There are almost more vehicles (i.e. 4x4 trucks and suvs) that elligle drivers, shop around and you'll find your deal.

If you are just wanting 4wd for bad road conditions in the winter, or to get back to the pond to go fishing then your best bet is probably sell it and get a 4wd unless you are really in love with your current truck. If you actually want a 4wd truck you can use then convert to 4wd via SAS. A solid front axle is about 9000% stronger then the almighty IFS, especially the NBS IFS in my opinion. For some reason they seem to love to nuke carrier bearings and IFS has never been known for its strength. That being said my truck is 2wd and I have every intention of doing an SAS and making its a 4wd. I intend to pretty much copy the late model dodge ram's coil spring solid front axle setup since I already have spring buckets and it would be stupid not to use them IMO.

It all depend on how much you love the truck. If thats your baby then convert.... if all you want is 4x4 and you really dont care how then sell it! I love my truck, Ill be burried it it if I have my way about it. Ill drive it till it falls apart, Ill put it back together and do it again. SFA swap is next big thing for me..... money has nothing on my truck where Im concerned!
