Ya it was a tough purchase for me at first too. I had to keep asking myself is it neccary do I really need it? I'm happy I did it tho thought my self a skill that had always fascinated me. Just hang in there till you get the hang of it. My suggestion before you leave the welding store is buy a gas lense, and matching cup, and also e3 tungstens you sharpen to a point and you can do stainless, moly, aluminum, mild steel... Pretty much everything. When I started out I had to switch back and fourth between and spent a ton of money doin so. The e3 cost the same as the ones your supposed to use with aluminum anyhow.

Here's a couple more pics of the giant fab project, made some catch cans and a vent tank, then a dry sump oiling system for turbo not sure if you can see everything. I supported my local ceramic/ powder coat friend well on this set up.

Just an FYI anything that meant to handle any type of heat like coolant tanks or radiators or oil tanks needs to be welded with 4043. 5356 has a tendency to crack when used in higher heat applications.
