Shops that do Afm/dod delete

Trying to weigh my options, was wondering if there are any reputable shops the DFW area or further out if need be that can do the Afm delete. Also wondering if there are any shops in particular to stay away from. Tried searching, nothing came up really but it may be because I'm on my phone, I dunno.

if your only doing the DOD delete, you dont wanna take it on yourself? you could have it done in a weekend easily taking your time with a limited socket set. just rent a digital torque wrench for torquing the heads back down

I should have most the tools I believe to do the job minus the valve spring compressors. Its more of a time deal and I'm curious if a shop can have it down faster than I could do it in my own. I could probably do it myself, although I read somewhere unless you've done cam swaps before you shouldn't try it. I haven't worked on a LS motor before and the only cam swap I did was long ago on a 350 I had out of my 79 camaro. I really just don't want to tear into it and be surprised by something. It looks straight forward, just looking at what my options would be.

I could probably do it myself, although I read somewhere unless you've done cam swaps before you shouldn't try it. I haven't worked on a LS motor before and the only cam swap I did was long ago on a 350 I had out of my 79 camaro. I really just don't want to tear into it and be surprised by something. It looks straight forward, just looking at what my options would be.

cause for the DOD delete all your doing is pulling the intake, valve covers and heads. the lifters are in the trays directly under the heads. so any capable shop can do a "head gasket" and book time on that is like 9.5 hours
a cam swap on the other hand is a bit more involved cause you gotta pull the heads, plus everything on the front, drop the oil pan (and diff if your 4x4) and your also removing the radiator so book time on that is like 24 hours if the shop goes by that

Yeah, it's the delete and cam swap. I'm sorry, I should have clarified that. Which also means tuning... A bit more than I can do under my shade tree in my own at the moment I think, lol.

you should check into TSP, I cant remember what city they're in but it cant be to far, they could spec you out a cam, install it and tune for you

There is no way the book can call for that long. My truck didn't have the DOD so I didn't have to pull the heads, but I did my cam swap, changed valve springs, new oil pump, chain and everything in 7 hours by myself. I had never worked on a LS engine either, this was my experiment lol. I would just do it myself and use the money I save on labor on tuning.

I have a buddy who does lots of LS swaps into older cars, builds hot rods and such. He could have that swap finished in a day if you brought him the truck on a Friday night. He could have it done by Saturday evening. He just did a head and cam swap on a 5.7 hemi in a challenger and he had it ready to go in 2 days except for the tuning.
