^^^ so the head was made with that hole there?

if so i guess you didnt blow a chunk out of the head ray... you just used the wrong gaskets

scrap those heads and get some REAL heads!!!! 243's IMO would work good on your setup, with 2.02, 1.60 valves and a stage 2 port job. are your heads stock 853's ray?

sale those old casting heads and buy some newer ones so you can run 5 layer mls gaskets.

Yeah that looks cast into the head to me. Just seems to be a wrong size gasket issue to me.

No they're Ported like a *****.. Theyre supposted to flo if i remember rite around 307cfm
