Head Gasket situation

1 Attachment(s)
As some of you know i blew a head gasket as well as my head out at Crandel did not hit a water jacket like i thought though, but i brought my stuff wit me to work this morning and measured the head gasket and its a felpro 1041 measuring out at for a 4.135 bore. To me it dont sound right when i have a 3.905 bore and still 853 heads.

Just wanted yalls opinion on this....

Thanks Ray

yep, gasket sounds too big. put some JB weld on that bastard and get back to the track.

That sucks, remove the other side too.

Thats what im thinking just patch that little gap up with some JBW and replace both gaskets with the correct ones, thinking bout going with the GM MLS but idk how they do with nitrous

I hope your joking about the JB weld... I dont think it was in the casting like that. Here is a pic of my 4.8 block when i swapped heads...

As far as that recess goes it was there in the early heads 4.8-5.7 the 862 casting heads came with and with out them, yes you need a gasket( composition) specifically for that style head..

haha yea i was definitely joking about the JBW:nono:

LMAO That has crossed my mind several of times though..

Do you have any recogmendations on gaskets i should use if it comes down to replacing both sides???

Where is this recess you are talking about? I am buying a set of 2000 heads and want to be sure that they do not have this recess, as I have already ordered new headgaskets.

Thanks!

Look at the pic he posted first in the post. That is the recess in the head. As far as I have read a reg MLS gasket wont work, you need the composition style ones for them..
