So some of you know, in 2007 The Castle Doctrine was enacted to protect the innocents against heinous crimes in self defense.

There have been numerous conversations with friends about CHL's, carrying a gun in the car, and The Castle Doctrine.

It's a no brainer to me, that if someone illegally enters my domain I know what to do... more thank likely they won't get far with the Rotties.

But what are the benefits to having a CHL even with the Castle Doctrine in play?

Being able to carry your weapon in most public places. As far as private property goes, you have 100% of your 2nd amendment rights (excluding illegal or regulated weapons).

The sad part about the Castle Doctrine is if you happen to have to use it, plan on having to spend thousands of dollars paying for court costs and lawyers fees and the fact that you'll most certainly lose the weapon you used for the foreseeable future.

 

Let's say you go into a Walmart that has a bank inside. Can't bring your "little friend" in with you? Can you?

 

I don't think you'd have a problem with that. I'm not sure I'd walk into the banking section of the walmart, and I'd look for 30.06 signs at the door as well. And it looks like you can conceal carry in banks in Texas so long as there is no sign restricting it.

 

Banks are only federal insured if they are FDIC. Nothing in MS law against it. But if it has the no firearms sign, then its up to you.
I feel sorry for the punk that comes around to violate the castle doctrine around here. Thats all.

 

Just get your CHL and your set, no question on legality. Funny, some officers treat you with a little more respect when pulled over.


As for banks too, watch out with some of the credit unions, for some reason the EECUs are actually posted with the 30.06 signage...


Still pretty sad law abiding citizens have areas they cant carry into...

 

Hubby gave me an early birthday gift this weekend, and I'd like to get a little more time with it at the range, then apply for the CHL.

Why get a CHL? Then you can be tracked by the Gov't. and when pulled over by the POPO the screen flashes a BRIGHT AMBER color saying approach with caution. Why put yourself into that situation......

 

Why ride that fine line of having to explain to the officer why your carrying w/o a CHL. And then shelling out the $$ for a lawyer, which you knowbi don't have husband. Just something to think about.

CHL=Legally carrying=Officer not worried about you doing something stupid.

Carrying a gun in your truck(because you think the castle doctorine will save you from harrassment/issue) is not going to hold up with a cop that wants to be a dick or doesnt know the law as well as you think you do and you just happen to be carrying a gun in your vehicle. Might want to keep a copy of it printed out and in the glovebox.
You have a CHL they dont want to see your gun, you have one in the vehicle and dont notify them when pulled over(or if they ask you) youll have an issue with them, legal or not itll cause a problem.

Let me guess, youve also never bought a new gun anywhere have you? since the gubment is gonna track it/you...
