my truck has infinity kappa(maybe the perfect) speakers in it and a pair of 10" subs. it sounds great. the system came in the truck and i dont know much about car stereo.
i am looking to do something similur to the car i am now driving. i will be doing componet 5 1/4" + tweeter in each corner. the kappy perfects are around $200shiped for a pair of tweets and 5.25" speakers so for all 8 units it would be $400.
before i drop that kind of money on speakers i was wondering if that is a good choice.
can i do better for the money or get just as good for less money?

I know there are some more obscure brands that the audiophiles like which are deemed to be really good for the money. I'm not one of those people who keeps up on that stuff though...
Like Magled said though Alpine, Infinities, pioneer all make decent speakers. It really comes down to the sound you like. I have alpine components in my truck now and I think they sound great. I would suggest going to a local audio store and comparing how the different brands to see what you really like. If you are happy with the Kappas though that just may be the way to go!

I like the kicker speakers myself. They weren't terribly expensive, and sound really good. My whole system is kicker, so I just went with them and they worked out great. I also have had eclipse speakers, which tend to be a little more pricey, and in my opinion don't sound any better.

The Infinity Perfects are awesome. I have Diamond Audio and MB quart components in my M3 and they are great, especially if you like bright highs and mids, but they're pricey.
If you like the way the Infinity's sound, i'd stick with those.
Kicker components sound pretty good and are decently priced (i have them on my boat). Rockford Fosgate and JL make pretty good speakers too, but I think they are overpriced. Sony speakers suck IMO, my cousin has them on his boat and they sound like ****. Alpine and Pioneer are well priced and decent speakers, but i would get something better. Again, just my opinion.
I think JL, Diamond Audio, and Alpine make the best subs. Unless you get into the really high end stuff like digital designs, but those subs are obscenely expensive.
