I have owned Alpine, Eclipse, Pioneer, Sony, and Panasonic. And everytime I went back to Alpine. They are the easiest headunits to navigate and give great sound quality. Eclipses are ok but until recently were behind in features such as satelite radio and MP3 playback which is important to alot of people. I personally didnt like the Eclipse (CD8051)I tried it seem to be too soft of a sound in my system, I preferred the Alpine(CDA7998) because it seem to have a more natural sound for me. But hey to each his own. Stay away from Panasonic and Sony they are crap.

I also have this head unit. This one is probably the best one ive ever had. It has lots of control over sound filtering etc...

the only bad thing is that I just purchased this head unit and they just came out with the newer version of it, all the same stuff exept it looks different and you can now download different screen-savers off the internet.

Alpine 9835 is what i have. The best head unit i've had and i've always had alpine. The guys that done my system in my truck install just about anything, but their best seller is alpine. I love alpine. i don't know about eclipse and the others, but you can go to alpines website, and customize your own eq. it has more adjustments than the radio has. after you set your eq, you download it to your comp, burn it on a cd and upload it on the head unit. AIN'T Alpine the bomb?!!!!!!!
