Default what amp?

How do you match the amplifier to the sub? I have a 12" Rockford Fosgate Power Series 4 ohm and need a amp for it. It is 600 Wrms and 1200 Wpeak.

Is your sub a dual voice coil or single?

If your sub is SVC I'd recommend somewhere between a 600x2 and 800x2 RMS amp. If it's DVC I'd recommend a mono 600-800 watt RMS amp. You can definitely go bigger if you have the budget for it, the bigger you go, the less you drive the amp and the clearer sound you will get, as the other guys said above. Definitely don't under-power it though, contrary to popular belief it's easier to blow a sub by under-powering it than over-powering it.

I have 2 500watt RMS subs pushed by a 1600 RMS amp, gain is set low and it will last forever....
