I found an 05 VHO with the standard cloth split bench. No Bose... You pay for the 6.0 but don't get the better sound system???

Also Not sure if you seen them, but GM made some extended cab Super Short beds using the 5.8 bed from the 1500 crew cab... A friend picked one up and it was a 4x4 with something like 3.23 or 3.42 gears.
that's funny about the tape deck and CD's being on their way out. Very true.

I had always assumed VHO trucks were higher option trucks. If I saw one with cloth and base audio I would have thought it was a fake.

Lastly.. whaat? I gotta see a pic, and no I don't think I've ever seen one.

There is actually one near my neighborhood. Let me see if I can find you a pic.

The wheels attracted me to the truck. I saw the 14 bolt under the rear and said what do we have here??? The vin confirmed it had an LQ9. But I was also surprised about the standard cloth bench seat interior.

Speakers ordered. Should be here in a day or 2.

Awesome on the speakers. I was recently heart broken.. I went to order some 3.5" jbl gto speakers after reading up on them but they won't fit in the dash of my truck. After reading on them I have been really wanting to try the GTO series, I will be shocked if they aren't amazing. So much speaker for the money there

Found a pic. I feel like maybe I have seen this but just didn't realize what I was looking at. Took me a second to realize something was off here.

Yes that is a GM Press Photo too!

So the rear of the cab floor is actually different to allow the frame rails to bend up under the cab before it gets to the bed. even the leaf hangers are set up weird on that truck. It uses a 1500 crew cab 5.8 bed . Really crazy how they did it.

Even the Spec on the speakers that I read, it states the made them to be used with stock head units and also with an amp. Sounds promising.

But why?? So weird.

Yes they are highly efficient so they shouldn't be power hungry. Should do very well on lower power levels. The speakers I had in my truck weren't as efficient and had a higher power rating and absolutely screamed.

Interesting. Yeah mine had the tinted rear windows and glass. What's the deal with that, I figured it was an option. Was it more standard than I'm thinking with the regular extended cabs?

Most due have the privacy tinted windows. It's either Pre Production or from a base model or like cab and chassis with no bed.

In a Photo shoot they want to control the lighting. Sometimes in different conditions they can't control reflections in dark glass so they will use transparent glass so no reflections show up.

I should have taken some pictures, But... I didn't... I managed to get the 6.5 installed today. I already had the metra factory plug to speaker connectors. Already sounds better. I can only imagine what it would sound like if I wired up the splitter and installed the Tweeters that came in this kit. The Orion 6x9's in the back still sound good for now.

Ironically the Orion Cobalt Series that I took out and these JBL's have a very similar construction and materials.

I think I am going to try an replace the head unit in a few months and try and wire them up the way they should be. I found some head units in the 200-300 range that might do the trick. Even considering an amp...

I know speakers break down over time. It was a shame because they sounded good for what they were and how they were installed. I was never able to get the signal splitter to work with the orions. It had water intrusion and I suspect was shorted out. I also didn't have the tweeters from the set. Unfortunately I couldn't find any info and there only sold through select dealers. Otherwise I would have considered a set of those.

The more you look at speakers the more commonalities you'll find, especially with subs. That's why I've learned not to get too caught up in brand names. They share a lot of components and like I said speakers are about as complex as a rock. There really isn't anything that makes one magical over another, there's just subtle differences that help. The big difference in sound quality comes from install, enclosures, setup and tuning. The speaker probably plays the smallest role in it all. Look at the bose soundwave.. best speaker in the world in a shitty setup will sound like the worst speaker in the world.

That's why I push those rings so hard and a new head unit.

The new head unit will make a world of difference. Pioneer and JVC have excellent radio's in double din in that price range you're looking at. I've started leaning toward JVC though since they have a 13 band eq.
