Default Thoughts on Pioneer AVIC-D2

Any og you guys sporting one of the Pio DDIN's? From my reading, they are extremely fun to bypass the safety measure crap. Plus they will not play a DVD video unless you have an external player. I know the AVIC-Z1 will, but its way out of my price range. Plus I do not need an HD in my head unit either.

get the n1 or n2. that's what i have (n1). that or a d1 if u want double din. it is extremely easy to bypass, all you do is ground the green wire and it thinks you're always in park. d1 wont play dvd's either. dumb imo.

btw, you will have to convert to a 03+ dash as your truck came w/ the 1.5DIN from factory.

Id really like a unit that plays DVD,s. For the price dammit it should!! I want a double din unit too. Ive still got my eyes set on the Kenwood DDX8017. Just exploring other units to see whats up first. I havent heard too many good things about Eclipses Navi either.

This is not for a 99.

Hey if you want a good unit go with the Alpine IVA-W200. I have it and it is great. It plays DVD's and it is easy to bypass. Don't buy it from Alpine though. I bought mine at Best Buy for $200 cheaper than Alpine. Plus it won't get in the way with the shifter like other in-dash screens. Go here to look at it.

I dont need Bluetooth plus im not gonna be hooking my iPod up to it. Other than that, thats all I can see that make the Alpine special..

No flip-out screens for me at all.

as for dvd players I would highly recommend the Kenwood x817. It's got a 7" screen as oppose to 6.5" pioneer. I use to have a Pioneer p6600 before. But now I bought a Kenwood Excelon x817 and wouldn't go back to Pioneer. Then I bought the kna-g510 navigation and this system is awesome my opinion. The navigation is the size of a cassette tape and is easily updateable by either plugging in your laptop to it, or using a SD card. Just go to the garmin ( yes the navi is a Garmin, the most popular and dependable navigation) web site and download the new version.
