Depends on how much mounting dept your willing to use... I would first consider the size of the box you can actually make back there with you being comfortable and then we can go from there... Remember, properly spaced 10's can sound better than under spaced 12's...

i think the best in cab sound would be a pair of tens in a nice box if you get the right specs for ( box, subs, amp and deck) you can make it sound amazing

And the only reason i say the best is because he is wanting to put them behind the seats sure you can get better bass from some 12s if u have the room

Heres a list of good shallow subs:

eD Audio
Tang Band
The First Pioneer Shallow Subwoofer
Old Pioneer Shallow Subwoofer
New Pioneer Shallow Subwoofer
JL Audio SlimLine
EarthQuake Shallow
Clarion Shallow Subwoofer
Power Acoustik Shallow Subwoofer
Illusion Audio Shallow

It is also no difficult to get 10's louder then twelves. I run a cheap Pioneer 10 and it owns my buddies 2 12" RF P1's, which, granted suck *****, and it blew away another buddies two 12" infinities.

It's all in the box! Box is 90% of your sub's performance.

Newb.

You like the bass of a 12 more than the bass of a 10... That a universal statement? The difference between a 10 and a 12 is marginal in a sealed enclosure. In ported, a 12 usually "sweeps" more air than a 10, but that doesn't mean one will "hit" harder or sound any better. I've got a Resonant Engineering SX 15 in a 5.5 cu ft box at 30hz that sounds like 10 10's in my Yukon. Size doesn't necessarily amount to output or quality of sound.

Only 2 brands I will ever buy again...
