Good luck on your search.
I like the look of that!

Here's a single DIN that I like the looks of. Around $200 on ebay: Kenwood KDC-BT952HD CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

That's not bad. Anything particular you do or do not want? By that I mean function wise, rotary ****...etc etc etc

do you want USB, all your connections on the back, solid faceplate, or one where the the cd slot is visible?

Thanks for all the help man. That Kenwood you posted looks good. Ideally I'd have the aux and USB ports in the rear so I can hard wire them into the console or something. Having the hidden CD slot is looks good too. The less clutter on the front the better. A full touchscreen would be badass but not worth it unless it's a DD like you said.

Do you know if the USB option allows me to play music from a USB device like a flash drive or SD card? Or is it only for charging or for iPods?

Yes, you can. My DD has the SD slot and USB, but I have never used them. I run Pandora most of the time.

I agree, the motorized decks look better, but I just had dicking with waiting for it to drop down, then load the disc. This is all personal preference though. If my HU hadn't been given to me for free, I wouldn't have ran it as my first choice, I wish the aux was in the rear as well!

You can only play the SD car if you have the slot, unless there is a USB/SD contraption I haven't seen before.

There's a SD to usb adapter, I have one for my digital camera. Crutchfield says the kenwood unit will play from flash drives... badass.

With my last one. I got rid of the CD entirely and went to an Ipod reciever. Only real con I've come up with is that the faceplate isn't removable. I ran the Ipod cable to my fuse panel for easy access to pull the Ipod out and add music, and also, it's completely hidden.
