It's not the head unit. My Delco HU used to seem as if it would cut off when I first get in the truck, and play music. The only way it would play is if the volume was low. A few days later, I had a ground wire come loose on me. Don't know if this was the cause or coincidental, but I have not had that problem since. The only problem I still have is the amp getting hot on me, and cutting out if the system volume & low freq levels (bass) is up higher the the amp can handle. I miss my old Punch amp from RF. I'd get another, but the quality isn't near as good as it was over 5 years ago.

BTW, hope you have a cap b/t the amp and batt.

I thought I was the only one that tapped the OEM speaker leads. Are you running a 4-ohm setup or 8-ohm? Mine is 4-ohm, and non-bridged (if memory serves).

Yeah, gotta have a fuse! I am running a MTX thunderform with thier speakers (4500s), not sure of the ohms on the subs themselves.... that would require tearing the whole enclosure apart..... thanks for the heads up.
