Default Speedo problem

The other day im getting on the e-way to go to my buddies shop, and i have it floored. At about 70 my speed-o stops moving. So i pull over and and stop. when i stop the speed-o goes back to Zero. So i go about my way. So i get off on the ramp, and the damn thing does it again. This time at 40. So i drive all the way to his shop with the speed-o stuck at 40. Plus it seems now my tach is acting a lil strange. I tell my buddy with the shop about it and he said it has to be my cluster since i didnt have a dumby lite on. Well we still haven't gotten to it and im wondering if any one else has had this problem with there truck. Let me know, thanks!! Also let me know what you guys think it is.

Don't sound good....
I have had my speedo stuck at 100mph after I reflashed my VCM, but a quick trip up to 100 mph and it started working again.
Maybe now is the time for you to start shoping for a SS cluster, lol.

the dealer can program the cluster for you or most places that you buy them from can do it also...

just wondering... i have a speedo problem too.. except with mine when you first start it up and start driving it may not work for the first block or the first mile or sometimes not the first 50 miles.. but it just jumps up and starts working after a little while and is fine until you shut the engine off. I can stop at stoplights and do whatever and it is fine but as soon as I turn off the ignition its back to the guess work and watchin the tach.

and then sometimes it works just fine.... for a day or two... Could this be anything simple or do I get to spend some $$$$ to???? Also if I do need a new cluster where can I get one????
also the odometer still seems to count normally whether the spedo is working or not

you might try a VSS (vehicle speed sensor) in the tail shaft of the tranny. 20-30 bucks before you buy a cluster.
