I theory you should get a light but in my 03 I never got a light and it was the VSS, But in my 00 my needle just stuck one day and it was the cluster. so its just a gamble, the cluster is some bucks so I thought I might recomend the sensor.

Well i found the problem. It was my programmer. It must of F*ed it up when i raised my speed limiter. I was on the way to the track for a event and was sick of not being sure what speed i was going. Then i just got the brite idea to take the tune out and see what happened. And it worked. This is now the third problem ive had with my programmer. Well thanks for all the help u guys did and or tried to give me. Much App.

yes it is a diablo, but i dont think its the programmer, cause i took out all the tune and went for a drive adn it still did it. its all messed up, it jumps around, its stays at one speed when slowing down and accselerating. some times doesnt move at all. So im back to thinking its the speed sensor, plus my trans seems to be jacked up too so im gonna have it looked at soon, ill keep u all possed.

My truck does the same thing. I have HPT and I use the scanner feature the Speedo and VSS are correct. The motor inside the speedo takes a dump tho. Its a toss up for me. I rely on my tach for speed. I would say Look for a used cluster or go to the dealer and tell them this is a safety issue and they need to fix it regardless of the warrenty

Yeah everyone with these problems check your VSS first. My speedo went crazy yesterday and finally stopped working, the VSS wires were loose.

And thanks to this, I got a 79 mph in a 55 mph zone ticket! My speedo was showing 45 mph (I knew I had to be going faster than that!). I told the cop my speedo was messing up and only showing 45 mph, he was like yeah..

I've had this happen with a bad alternator. Not pulling 14v only about 11v and causing all kinds of weird gauge problems. No check gauges light lit. All cleared with a new alternator. Just another idea to check.
