try what i suggested with a diff HU or run the RCA's from a friends vehicle to your amp to test that way.

way weird man id be frecking out! i had a problem last month where my amp would clip if it was playing to loud. well one sub wire was lose then on my ALPINE pdx amp there is a switch to turn off the sub sonic and it fixed the problem.
