Remote start, chevy equinox home install
#1
Are there any companies that make a type of plug and play kit? My gf wants remote start for X-mas, and I know when they installed my remote start/2 way alarm it took like 5 hours. So im just trying to figure out what im gettin myself into. The harware itself is cheap, but time is money, and I dont hava lot of time to waste TBH.
Any opinions or tips is appreciated.

You are much better off to have a pro install it. On a newer truck there is so much to contend with. It isn't plug and play at all. Lots of finding wires, splicing and often with door locks you have complicated systems you have to create.
I don't know a ton about them but I know enough that they aren't easy.

yea its pretty complicated..you would need a tech sheet of the equinox to tell you where all the wires are located as well as a flcan module which would allow you to access the cars databus system( the computer basically), and the you would have to have the module flashed for the specific car..so its a pretty intense process to say the least..the computer systems on these new cars are pretty complex..

Depending on the year and if it came from the factory for that year I would get the GM accessory unit. I did a couple on the '07up tahoes and it was a simple reflash of the pcm and new remotes.
