I agree.

I convinced myself to just go ahead and replace the headunit and see if that fixes it. I would have eventually replaced it anyway to get a better tuner and to have rca preouts to run my subs.

his is an 03, you have 3 screws to take out to get the radio out.

Headunit did not fix the issue, but now I have my cables and remote wire ran for my amp..

Time to pull the door panel off as the speaker wire had power at the unit.
Looks like I will be buying a new set of components now. Oh well, good excuse to upgrade that as well.

swap the door speakers around. If the problem stays on the drivers side then it is the wiring, if it goes to the pass side then its a problem with the voice coil.

No need to swap them, just hook an ohm meter to the left front when you pull it out. should read 3-4 ohms if its not blown. If it reads lower then that or 0 then the speaker is blown if not then i may be the speaker wire.

I tore into the door tonight. Found the wiring good, it was hot (had power) at the end of the plug. Speaker was not working, I used a junk old 6.5" speaker that I had in the garage from the T/A, it worked great, swapped back to the original, still did not work. I tried powering the speaker bypassing the OE plug and it still did not work.

I am convinced that it is now the speaker.

any recommendations on some decently priced replacements?
