Question Radio comes on, but no sound? 2002 Silverado

My truck was at body shop for 5 weeks getting accident damage repaired. Battery died due to them having the doors off and not hitting the dome light over-ride button...

Anyway...Picked it up today and the radio comes on, changes stations, CD shows different tracks playing, etc....

But NO SOUND.

It is a TheftLock factory am/fm/cd stereo but has never had the lock code enabled.

There are no messages on the tuner face, and it looks and lights up like normal....just no sound, no matter what.

They did have BOTH driver's side doors off to repair them and the cab damage, as well as the needed repainting.

Any ideas what is going on here?

All fuses under the hood and on the left side of dash, are OK.
All other lights, cigarette lighters, etc., all have power and work as they should...just no sound from the radio...

I'd pull the radio and meter the speaker wire from the radio, see if your speakers are blown. Or if your truck is a more well equipped model it could have an amp that died. It's located behind your glove box if you have it.

If they had the doors off, Chances are they didn't hook something back up.

Theft lock lets you know when it's enabled. It says locked, security, or something along those lines.

It's an LT model, but when I checked all the fuses, the AMP fuse was empty under the hood, so I can only assume it doesn't have an amp.

Would ONE blown speaker, or disconnected speaker wire, disable the entire stereo?

Yeah, that's what I read about the Theft Lock. It's never been turned on, and it doesn't give any message. Both driver's side doors were definitely removed, and that is where I think a problem is. Body shop guy is a family friend and said that it was a simple plug & play connection on both doors, but I plan to do some simple checks and then take it back and drop it off...

It works just like it is OK, aside from zero sound...not even a crackle. I can change the radio stations, and the CD runs and changes tracks...just no noise.

I did find my Chilton's manual and found an audio page for schematic. It shows a BUSS electric connection between the LEFT REAR door, and the stereo. It doesn't say where, but that is the main point of impact. It did function perfectly before spending 5 weeks at the body shop though.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Yes. Everything else works fine on the truck. Power windows, locks, mirrors, seat heaters, seat memory, etc...even the aftermarket remote start.

If it is a simple plug in somewhere, I have no problem with "fixing" it myself, but I agree, the body shop should be looking at it. That fact that I have no idea what/where he unplugged anything to remove the doors doesn't help me either.

Ironically, after driving the rental for 5 weeks, I told the wife I needed an "upgrade" to my factory stereo, but I'd like to KNOW that the current problem is fixed first, so I don't blow up a brand new system...

If it crackled I would say corrosion. Most likely something is not connected. I doubt it's the radio it self.

I haven't had one apart in a while so I don't remember exactly how the wiring is routed. I would pull the door panel and make sure they remembered to plug the actual speakers back in. That's usually the culprit in the body shop. They test the door locks and the windows but forget to check the radio before re-installing the panel.

Angry

Well....got another stock factory head unit yesterday to try...

Still nothing. Radio comes on, gets good signal, CD plays and changes tracks, etc....

Still....NO SOUND.

Nothing loose on BCM.

Does anyone know if there is some sort of "electrical connection" inline with the LEFT REAR speaker? Generic Chilton's schematic shows a BUSS connection on LR speaker wiring, but also says (typical) next to the drawing, so it may not even exist...Is there some sort of factory amp or something hidden away???

Body shop has been trying to help, and it is a family friend, but.....
Starting to get pissed...
