Default Quick wiring question

A buddy of mine just got a 2006 silverado and on this years model they have taken out the 12V ignition wire supplied to the stereo. Hes addin an Alpine stereo to it and I needa know what wire i can tap into to supply the 12V signal needed to turn on the unit. Thanks for your help guys.

I am not for sure on which wire for a 2006 because I have 99. You can take a test light to your fuse box and see which one turns on when the truck is running, and use a fuse tap to supply power to your radio. One last thought tap into something that is not critically to the operation of the truck. The last thing you want is to blow a fuse and your truck is dead on the side of the road.

I have used these taps because you can put your accessories on it's own fuse. I think you can buy them at Autozone or OReilly, but don't remember which one.
