Question about my wiring
#1
I have an 1000 watt Xplode amp bridged that runs two infinity ref 12s. Everything was working fine till I did the back seat fold down mod and mounted my amp on the back "wall" of my truck. I hooked it all back up and it sounded good then the 30amp inline power fuse blew.
Checked all the wires and replaced the fuse. It only blew the fuse when I turned it up near max volume. Before it could handle max on even the songs with a ton of bass. Did that several times and decided to go through the wiring once more.
I re hooked up everything, turned it on and it blew again. Nothing was different from what I could see. My buddy suggested not bridging it and now everything is fine. Turned up to max, it wont blow. I just dont think it sounds as good as before. Anyone have any ideas?
There is a switch that says LPF (80hz) with an on/ off switch that Im not sure of what it does. Anyone know if that should be on or off?
Lastly I have the gain on about 3/4 of the way and its doing fine whereas when I had it bridged on only have gain it blew the inline power fuse.
Any suggestions would be great here, Im not to great with stereo stuff.

well, i dont know where you had the amp b4 but i bet it was getting more air and running cooler than behind your back seat. your friend is right, sony's are VERY sensitive to being bridged and heat, they dont like either. chances are if you rigged up a little computer fan to blow air by the amp you could bridge it again and it wouldnt blow the fuse.
LPF = Low Pass Filter. this should be on, as you are running subs, and should be set no higher than 80hz (usually between 63 and 80). basically this is going to filter out all the frequencies higher than 80hz so your subs arent playing voices and making the bass muddy and distorted, with this on the subs will only hit the bass notes below 80hz.
on the gain, usually you dont want to go much higher than 3/4 if you can help it, around half is better if it is loud enough for you, this will let the amp run cooler if the gain is turned down a little.....

Yeah but I dont know how it could get that hot that fast. I mean you turn the truck on and blast it for 30 seconds bridged now and it blows. Im thinking maybe that 30 amp fuse on the power wire is too small?

you know what i am an idiot, i thought you were talking about the fuse on the amp.....def. 30 amp fuse on power wire is too small, bump it up in incraments untile it doesnt blow, go up to 40 amp for starters, usually you want to have about the same size fuse in you power wire as in all your amps combined (if sony amp has 40amp fuse put that in power wire, if two 30amps put a 60 amp in power wire, etc...)
the old sony amp i used to have would get scalding hot bridged after about 20-30min. of driving at moderate volume, sony's dont like to be bridged......
