i think it does that so that the fuel pump doesn't run when dry. i don't know how fuel pumps are put together, but running any pump with rubber impellers without liquid in it will tear them apart.

I very much doubt that the truck intentionally blows a fuse for anything...

well mine yestederday just shut off going down the highway had half tank gas goin to golf course and just shut off had power but would not ingage the starter was weird ended up being pcm b fuse kinda some bs when stuck on side of road cause of a fuse

i didn't necessarily mean that the truck does it on purpose, but that the fuse blows because the pump draws more amps because of an increased load on the motor.

+1 on that. The truck doesn't "purposely blow a fuse" but that is what the fuses are for. When then get more power than they are designed for then the fuse blows and the connection is broken and in turn this stops whatever the application may be, from burning up. Hope that makes sense. If I'm wrong or not making sense, sorry.
