I need to replace the factory Blows amp (died recently) in my Tahoe and am thinking the jack compartment in the back would be a good place for an amp. I already have an aftermarket head unit so I have RCA outs to run to the amp. There isn’t enough room under the seats to mount them amps and still fold the seats down, and I don’t want to lose cargo space.

Has anyone mounted an amp in the jack compartment and if so, what amp did you use and how was it mounted/wires routed? Please provide pictures of the setup.

As for not having room to mount amps under the second row seats, I have two HiFonics amps (4ch and mono sub amp) mounted under my second row. Although the seats sit on the amp when folded down, they do fold down flat. I am conscious about not running the system hard when the seats are down though. Here's a pic..

 

The amp is normally screwed down, but I was working on it, hence why it's just laying there. My truck has been broken into twice with this setup and it survived both times.
