Default LED interior conversion questions

Mods feel free to move to a more appropriate location if I did this wrong.

Hi everyone. Ive begun to swap over all of my interior lights in my NBS crew cab Silverado (2004) to blue leds. Ive been using the 470ohm resistors, 5mm bulbs in the cluster and the 3mm bulbs in what switches I have done so far. I have used superbrightleds for everything since the crappy ebay leds quit on me. Now A few things have stumped me...
1. I have not been able to keep the led from going out behind the 50mph location in my cluster (lasts for a week or so and flickers for a few days and burns out). Any idea on how to fix this??
2. I have read on a few posts to use 510ohm resistors with red bulbs, now superbrightleds closest thing to that is either a 470ohm or a 560ohm.. How critical is this? (going to use red bulbs in the HVAC and part of the seat heaters/ window controls).
3. I have seen on different Posts that its possible to re-color your factory needles. is this true?
4. And finally which switch prongs do you use to check and mark the hot side of bulb solder locations.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you guys and happy new years.
