Default HIDs on a GMC 2500HD?

hey guys, I have an '02 Sierra 2500hd and wanna run HID halo projectors. Do they require any kind of a conversion kit? Seems like I heard somewhere that it takes more than just HID bulbs...

you need bulbs ballast and igniter (some newer ballasts include igniters). It will work but wont be legal. You need projectors to retrofit into your housing that are approved for hid's. IMO on a sierra you should start w/ some denali projectors because there is less to change when switching to the correct projectors as opposed to starting w/ a stock housing. try hid planet (i dont think i can post non sponsor links, so google it).

hmm... hid planet is no more... any other ideas? I just bought a set of HID-compatible halo headlights, so it sounds like all I need are the bulbs, ballast, and igniter. Thanks for your help.

sweet. that's not a bad price. What do the sealed beam units do that the regulars don't?

I think the sealed beam unit are just for vehicles that came with factory sealed beam headlights. Ours are not, we have the screw in bulb setup.

I agree, go with projectors designed for hids, it is truly not that expensive either.

Hid projector on the left, halogen on the right

Halogen Projector removed

Hid projector in denali housing

Result=Night time driving has changed forever
