Default help me pick out some audio equipment$$

I have set myself a $1000 budget to work with. With that being said, I already have a jl audio 500/1 and two pioneer 12" shallow mount subs. I have decided on a jl 300/4 to run mids and highs. I have looked at focal and jl components, but not sure what else is out there that is comparable. I want a single din radio. I don't need satellite radio, but id like hd radio. Those are my only parameters as far as head units are concerned. I have been out of the audio game for some time now, so im a little rusty. A custom box to house the subs and all wiring/dash kits needs to be figured in the budget as well. Im open to any and all input!

Anything in paticular you are looking for in your head unit? The sub box will cost a bit of money if you have it custom make, I would recommend looking on ebay or amazon for a sutable enclosure. Or, do some research and dont be afraid to be creative and try and build your own. Just a thought.

I have that same amp for my front speakers. I went with Focals, with that amp and those speakers it sounds amazing. They are about 1.5 years old and i crank it up everyday, and they still sound new. I would get the calibration CD from JL for dialing in that amp.

I have looked through your build thread a few times. I actually ordered the same focals you have. I had a calibration cd from jl a few years ago, but I can't find it

A reputable shop I have used a few times in the past quoted me $100 to build a custom box. I haven't found a box for two 12s to fit behind the drivers seat (nitrous bottle is right behind the center console) as for the head unit, it needs to be a single din with hd radio and decent control functions. I have narrows it down between a couple of alpine and pioneer units

Kenwood KDC-BT948HD - This is a nice all around unit that has bluetooth and HD build in, can be had on amazon for less than $300. Plus has iPod controll with usb connection, pandora controll and better processing. Really good unit.
